When I was getting my brakes replaced, the mechanic told me that my front right and left drive axles needed to be replaced. This would cost $150 each plus labor. Is this a good price and what are the symptoms of bad drive axles.

Axles usually go bad because the CV boots crack and all the grease leaks out. Then you will hear a clicking sound when you are turning. They aren't that hard to replace, and $150 sounds about right for the part. My friend and I replaced one on a Chevy pickup this weekend, and it took about an hour for the whole job.
