ok i need new springs/shocks/struts and i got about $500 to spend. i was going to get KYB GR-2's with Tein S-tech springs but then i heard that the GR-2's were stiff and not worth it. so researching a little more i found i can get S-tech's with tokico HP's for $494.

so i guess my question is: what do you think about the HP's? are they good? bad? stiff?

thanks in advance

HP's are the stock replacement, they wont hold up with the S-techs for long.

get the illuminas or AGX if you want to pair it with S-techs

We'll you'll be spending a lot more when those struts blow from the S-tech springs.

Check the classifieds see if anyone is selling theirs for a cheap price or keep saving up.

HP are ok, but they ride like the KYB'S in my book, I have had both didn't feel a difference.

S-Techs + AGXs. No complaints for over 2 years.

If you dont have much to spend buy used stuff. If not, go with the Tokico suspension kit. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOKIC...20757297QQrdZ1 Its cheap, well made, good balance between performance and ride, and matched to work with each other. HPs should not be used with any other spring.

Stechs are garbage BTW, no suspension travel and too soft.

The tokio springs will give a little drop you can use other springs to get more of a drop but the Tokio HP struts wont be able to take it (for long).

THe noises can be worn out parts that would need to be replaced no matter what setup you choose.

I have HP's with Canuck Motorsport springs (2" drop, same as S-tech)

F*UCKING GARBAGE STRUTS!!!!!!

If they last you 4 months i'll be stunned. They were great for the first few weeks then the dampening when right downhill and the ride is crap. Seriously save your cash and do it right, its not worth it to get 2 alignments and have to change suspension twice.

I'm not even going to bother sending them out for warantee, it was such a waste of time and money to get these.

they are good struts, not to be used with such low springs obviously. not even illuminas should be used with anything lower than 1.5-1.75. but HPs are good. id recomend them with H techs/eibachs/HR

the HP's should only be used with the HP springs. Used with other springs that arent as low as s-tech or sprint, or CMS, will be a little more tolerable but still not advised.

but to each his/her own when it comes to the final decision

The original Tokico springs (sold from CE) have around a 1.5" drop and fall between Eibachs and Progress. They are a very nice stance, and pretty even front to rear.

Check my sig out this is the Tokico HP kit spring and strut. I have no complaints as of yet. I personally think the drop isn't that bad. I don't see going any lower w/ the way the roads are around New England.

Here you go: $499 minus 10% for HP's and springs
http://www.customenterprise.com/view.../vts/design017

From what I understand though, the $180 extra for the Illuminas is more than worth it.
