annoying squeaking suspension

I searched the forums section, but nothing...
I've been hearing annoying squeaks while going over bumps/potholes in the wheelwells. When I push down on the corners of the car, I can hear somewhat of a squeaking noise. I took it to nissan, they said that the passenger side axle was broken, also cuz there was grease on the wheel. After $600 later, I can still hear a squeaking. Its prob from the drivers side, cuz I am starting to see some grease on that side too. When he had it on the lift, he said the other side was fine..long story short;
1, what causes axles to be broken? the service rep said its from age (110,000 miles). Or is it because Im lowered?
2, could the squeaking the axles or shots/struts since I still hear it and not sure what side its really coming from?

People in northern NJ, does anyone have any good places where can I take it to other than nissan to be looked at? I tried Sears, but I couldnt make it on their lift being lowered with the front lip

thanks for any help!

I think is would be pretty obvious that your axle was broken. You wouldn't need a mechanic to tell you that. It's usually the boot cracks open and the grease falls out from age (being lowered certainly doesn't help) and eventually you get clicking while turning and pushing on the gas.

From searching myself I've ran into 50 or so threads about squeeking. Most of them point to the lower control arms and/or the sway bar end links for the squeeking.

sounds like the exact same problem I had on my car.

I was getting the exact same noises and the exact same symptoms. Your CV joints (axles) aren't really broken, they're just badly worn and they do have to be replaced but that's not really what's causing the squeaking. The squeaking is either coming from the struts from being worn or it's the strut mounts. With 110k on the car, I'd go and replace it all...I did the same.
