anything sensetive enough to set off your alarm when a key touches your car will go off 24/7/365 non-stop.

Umm . . . they keyed an escelade. You do have the GLE trim but I still dont think your fancy enough for them to key you.

I do understand your concern,a good alarm is all you can really do (without breaking the law) just try to stay on their good side.

If you want to try an extreme method try running up on the guys who key they cars, and put a 9mm in their face and tell them if they key your car, he will catch it in his nose, wheather he did it or not. But I dont encourage that type of behavior.

dont sweat it most are just giving you a hard time.

Did you want a camera to flick on and record once the alarm went off?

I don't know much about security, but you could try looking into motion detection cameras. If you do anything like this, make sure the equipment is inconspicuous and no one knows about it or else they'll just wear a mask as they happily key your car.

ok, being realistic about this: getting your alarm to go off and in turn trigger a camera when a key touches your car is going to be in credibly difficult. not much pressure is needed to scratch the paint. a moderate wind could rock your car enough to set it off. a car horn in close proximity would set it off. to get a sensor that sensitive would be very expensive as well. plus a camera that takes high quality pics/video from every angle would be very pricey. you would be better off parking your car where you can keep an eye on it whenever you can. if you are at school all day, maybe you should just bike to school/bus/hitch a ride with a friend (unless someone as paranoid as you can't trust anyone and has no friends)... J/P :P

one last thing, even after investing in the setup, you said that catching them is priceless. this won't even guarantee that they will be caught. the alarm will go off, they will run, the camera will rotate inside the car (i'm assuming) and may not be able to cover every angle before they turn and are long gone.

Cliffs: in my opinion, not worth it. there are better ways to protect your prized possesion. you're best off leaving it at home.

look i found some...^^^^ ...well the thing is ..
in my opinion, not worth it. there are better ways to protect your prized possesion. you're best off leaving it at home.
: im not gonna leave the car home...no way...and the kits on that website aint that expensive...360 degree cameras take a 360 degree shot...i doesnt have to be moving...it takes a picture all around the car... u are probably rite about the sensors...i might give up juz cuz of that but... still even if they try to break in/take my wheels and that kinda **** it'd still be effective

Did you want a camera to flick on and record once the alarm went off?
not record actually...take pics...like 20-30 pics one after another...like our digital cameras....there are digi cams out there that take pics in 360 degrees

break-ins and getting wheels jacked is a more preventable thing. you can get a sensor that will go off when a car's plane changes.

/agreed. keyings just can't be prevented. it is something so simple and easy to do.

then accept that things will happen to it! there's not much you can do to guarantee things won't happen. don't come in here and then get mad when people try to show you the reality of the situation. if you want to keep it a show car, it'll have to be your garage queen. if it's your dd, it's gonna get rock chips, door dings, dirt, rusted underbody, etc. just accept it. yea, it sucks, but it's a way of life with a car.

a little harsh, maybe, but it just seems like you're denying the obvious
