oil on spark plug threads

So I was driving around the other day, and the car started missing and shaking badly, I pulled the Spark Plugs only to find oil around the lower 2 or 3 threads of the spark plug in cylinder 1. The electrode and surrounding areas were clean however. After replacing the plug the car worked fine. The gap and condition of all other plugs was good but I replaced all of them wile I was in there.

My old mechanic lost one of the two screws that held in the coil pack on that cylinder, I don’t know how but do you think that may have had anything to do with it?

Thank you for any input

for some reason, oil on the #1 plug threads is common. I have no idea where it comes from (in my case, it was NOT the plug tube seals and my plug tubes were bone dry). and since my car doesn't burn any noticeable amount of oil, it couldn't be the valve seals either. double check your plug tubes to make sure no oil is pooling up down there. if not, then don't worry about it.

as for the missing screw - yea I'd imagine that might have something to do with the misfire. those screws hold the coil pack down on the plug you see. so are you saying you replaced the screw and the misfire is gone? or is the screw still gone? if still gone, watch for the misfire to come back.

Myslef and many other members have been running like this for years with no adverse side effects.
