all y-pipes are almost the same. the only differnce is bee's in the can and the metal its constructed out of - ie stainless or not.

i hear alot of people love their catmans but they dont last long - dunno why or whatever - but thats what i hear - plus i also hear they are really expensive compaired the the rest.

i bought myne from custom maxima - i like it, but i have a rasp - which does queit down with time (tho it doesnt go away). this was expensive making me wish i would have called up budget.

i would say buget is the cheapest and best way to go, there is no garentee that you will get NO bee's in the can (thats for all compaines) but i hear (emphimis on hear) that they have a 50/50 chance of getting one without.

warpseed seems to only do buisness over the phone - no email (may have changed?) they seem to have the best with the bee's in the can, but i think they cost more than budget (please correct me if im wrong - i just go from what i hear on this forum). lately i hear that they have been backorder so it may take a while to get parts - im unaware if this is truth, but its what i hear.

stainless shouldnt rust so go with that unless your car see's very little water (then go with the cheaper alternative).

dont buy anything from ebay - you will likly get junk - if it staits that its a warpspeed or budget or whatever on ebay - you might get a good buy - or you might get a y-pipe with bee's in the can that they just didnt want - who knows.

y-pipes will cause a good performance gain and will remove pre-cats, making it possible for some to fail tests (which all depends on the state) (am i wrong?)

y-pipe for some will cause louder exuast but this is said to be rare - unless you have a loud aftermarket exuast - i have a stillin and thats loud without a y-pipe - its really loud with one.

Living in the city, do you have any problems with emissions? When I lived in Lincoln Park, and the South Loop, I had to keep my 79 RX-7 registered to my parents' address here in Bloomington, because it would NEVER pass emissions... (plus it was a high 11 second street car... with a 3" straight pipe). I am moving to the city again around the first of the year... this is something I have to consider before I start going crazy with mods. Will a y-pipe and full exhaust keep you from passing Chicago emissions?

im not sure about inner city emissions. i belive the rx-7 you had was probably pre obd-ii (im guessing) so im sure it had issues. i dont live in the actuall city but the sub's north of it, and things for me are fine. as long as im not passing an obd-2 code here its fine, i warm up the car in the morning to make sure its nice before i get to the place (means i race there :P) everything passed for me. im not sure if chicago is differnt - of course if you dont have an obd2 system they will test for other emisions.

intresting information about the cattman..

i've had my cattman for about 4+ years and it looks just like the day I installed it.. The ceramic coating has not worn off, nor has it had the infamous flex failure like warpspeed...

As long as you keep the cat and your car is fully warmed up (drive 20-30 mins before testing) then you'll be fine - if you have 1996+ then they just check the ECU for codes

Cattman is pricy but it lasts a long time wih no wear. you cant beat the sound either its the best ive heard. One thing i hate is bees in a can and the cattman dosent have that. I love my cattman exhaust.

i hear that cattman has the best chance of NOT getting bee's in the can. i know alot of people that still have these in good condition - in older posts i hear that they have rusted etc... that was probably along while ago (only going on what i heard here on the forums).
