If you want to remove your oil loosen up the drain plug.

I'm about to use Black Magic's Engine Shine. Just make sure not to get any in your air intake or or your alternator, and if it has you rinse it off use low water flow and cover and exposed electrical connections.

you should be fine, just cover up your altenator make sure you dont directly spray into that or right into the intake. Also make sure the car is NOT running while you do this. Simple green and a good brush works really good too.

i agree, but if you want to get oil OFF of the engine, then you have to use a degreaser, not sure what a decreasser is there are no creases in my engine.

but in all seriousness, i usually take a plastic bag to one of those coin-op car washes, cover my intake, spray the engine cleaner, let it sit for a few, and then rinse.

don't shoot straight at the alternator and the coilpacks and they will be fine. worst i have ever had was a hard start afterwards, and that was only once on my jeep, i've done it dozens of times. works great for me.

yeah you should be fine, i do it all the time at work, and basically the only thign ill cover up is the altenator if its eassily sprayable or the distributor if the car has one. I use a pressure washer at work and some degreaser type stuff, if you get the degreaser stuff on the plastic you should use something to put on the plastic afterwards like a plastic/rubber protectant

yeah, me niether, plus i have drenched the interior of that thing w/ foaming engine bright then generous amounts of agua.
two other areas to avoid: if using pressure washer, don't aim sprayer at firewall and no degreasers on strut tower. there's a pricey plastic bearing near top that could lose its lubricant.

Should it not be:

...still uncertain as to how a correlation may be drawn between the two.

perhaps e-thugs have flawless attitudes, ipso facto, you have to have a flawless attitude to be an e-thug.. in ethics we'd say this conclusion doesn't justify the ends (only in many more in depth words).

Even with all of this taken into account an attitude is purley subjective (i.e. arrogance v. confidence) ergo cannot be deemed 'flawless'.

if you're going to degrease your engine i'd reccomend covering all wiring and harnesses with aluminum foil. Then spray carefully on trouble spots, let it sit for a bit (to eat away) and then put on a glove (if you want) or just grab a paper towel and rub away at dirty spots. Then get a high pressure hose and spray everything down (even though all your electricals are covered try not to get too much on there) then take out a paper towel and dry everything off... let it sit for a while so everything dries on its own, and then cross your fingers, start your car and hope you didn't fry anything

this is true with the sturt tower. however the plastic bearing is not TOO pricey, (5 bucks), its the labor that really screws yea.

Degreasing isn't the problem.. its when you wash it down with a hose.. water + electrical =

about drenching the electrical harness during rinse-ever take a close look at some of the harness plugs? they have pretty good rubber(or something) seals for keeping water out. like on the coil and injector connections.
however, you know about the dielectric grease one should apply to the plugs and their boots? a few times now, i've used an electrical contact cleaner on major harness plugs under the hood, then applied the aforementioned grease to each as a water repellent and lubricant.
just something to think about if one is so worried over short circuits occurring.
