Remanufactured bose speakers? Still available?

My two rear speakers are blown, i bought the car like this and its annoying hearing large rattles in your music. Is it 85$ for two speakers or is that a per speaker basis?

I'd just spend that $85 on a set of decent speakers like Pioneer or something.

I think $85 is per speaker. (It really takes a good hour to do the soldering, disassembly, and reassembly). When you pull the speaker, check the resistance across the coil - if it checks out, the amp board has probably blown.

If you like DIY projects, you can probably repair them for $10/ea by doing a little soldering. I found it to be a rather entertaining project. I say probably because the weak point is the Nichicon electrolytic capacitors on the amp board, and replacing them solves most problems. Details here: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=447116

Replacing the speakers with aftermarket requires replacing the headunit. Then you'd also want to replace the fronts to match. Overall cost probably around $300+. I think you can reuse the bose wiring no problem.
