Remanufactured bose speakers? Still available?

My two rear speakers are blown, i bought the car like this and its annoying hearing large rattles in your music. Is it 85$ for two speakers or is that a per speaker basis?

I'd just spend that $85 on a set of decent speakers like Pioneer or something.

Yeah well isnt the wiring all crazy for bose speakers? i wana try to keep the car stock as posible so i can sell it for a good price.

that cuz u cant.. bose are 1 ohm... aftermarket are 4ohm.. u will not get any sound out of it..i have a pair of bose for sale if u want them...

I think $85 is per speaker. (It really takes a good hour to do the soldering, disassembly, and reassembly). When you pull the speaker, check the resistance across the coil - if it checks out, the amp board has probably blown.

If you like DIY projects, you can probably repair them for $10/ea by doing a little soldering. I found it to be a rather entertaining project. I say probably because the weak point is the Nichicon electrolytic capacitors on the amp board, and replacing them solves most problems. Replacing the speakers with aftermarket requires replacing the headunit. Then you'd also want to replace the fronts to match. Overall cost probably around $300+. I think you can reuse the bose wiring no problem.
