need help replacing axles

need help replacing axles

got a 97 max gle that i am replacing the axles on, i got them disconnected at the wheel you could say, but where or how do they disconnect from the tranny

Just pull them out. The drivers side will pop out easily, the passenger side will be a PITA to seperate at the carrier bearing. Three bolts hold the passenger side axle to the carrier bearing. Then pry and pull really hard. If it doesn't seperate, take the whole assembly out and try seperating it once it's out of the car.

does it separate betwenn the two plates or on the out side, where do i pry

Do you have a prybar? You want to pry where the axle slides into the tranny housing. Don't kill yourself. If it doesn't come with moderate force try the passenger side.

Although everyone says the driver's side is cake it was not for me. My passenger side slide out with virutally no pulling force. Then I had to use a punch tool and mallet to knock out the driver side.

drivers side pulled right out, i cant get the passenger side though, and yeah i got a few prybars

yea screw the prybar, i grabbed the air hammer, out in a jiffy

get some pb-blaster or wd-40 and soak teh bracket... its rusted to s.hit by now...
