Can someone tell me what's holding the side air vents in the dash? Is it being held in by the metal clips like the dash trim around the gauges? If so, where are they located on the vents, on the top and bottom, or on the sides? I'm planning on painting my dash silver with some vinyl paint and I already know how to remove the center console, but need help with the side vents. Also, does anyone know how to remove the side defrost vents too? Thanks.

Anyone know?

I know someone has to know, unless I'm getting the "Newbie" treatment and I'm not even a "Newbie". Man, do I have to beg?

I tried taking them out a while ago too. I didnt get very far. If you take the cover off your fuse panel and look up inside the dash at the back of the vent...it looks like there are screws holding it in from behind WTF??

Beyond that, I have no help to offer you. Sorry.

Thanks, well I went ahead and just pryed the side air vent frames (which I was planning on painting only) out with a screwdriver. They came out and nothing was damaged. I also got the upper vents removed with no problem. I finished painting my dash silver so in a few days, I should have pics up.

Are you talking about the side vents that are the closest to the door? I tried taking them out but was afraid of breaking them. Could you please post directions on how to remove them? Someone told me you have to remove the entire dash vinyl cover to get to remove those.

Thanks
Anton

Well, I'm not sure on how to take out the whole vent, I only needed to take out the frames of the vents to paint, but I think you can work from there if your trying to take the whole vent out. What I did was simply use a screwdriver or something flat like a butterknife and slide it in between the dash and the side of the frame. On each side of the vent frame there are like 2 clips that have to be unhooked. Removing the frames is exactly like removing the middle console frames at the top where there are clips at the top of those vents. Yea, at first it seems like it would break, but all it really is, is really tight clips. That's basically all the info I can put into that, hope that helps.
