I recently changed my tranny and I poured in 5 qts already, but the oil still hasn't over flowed yet. I thought it only takes like 4.5 qts.

Should be roughly 9 to 10 pints or 5 qts. You may be close. Depends on how well you drained the fluid. Give it a little more and put your pinky in to see where you're at.

I just got my trans rebuilt. So it had not a bit of oil in it but it held all 5 quarts that I purchased.

depends... apparantly clear lake nissan thinks it only needs a couple of quarts
it takes 4.5 though.putting in a little extra won't hurt. Having it jacked up makes it take more.
