Ebay KYB GR2's...Any good?

I am looking to replace all of my struts on my 97 Maxima. Ebay has the entire set for a little over $200.00. However, I have read on the forum that some have had some issues with parts purchased on Ebay.

Can any of you provide me with some feedback if you have purchased these struts on Ebay?

Thanks!

If the seller is jdmwerks13 be carefull with him. He has a problem with UPS that sometimes sends the order back and have to send it out again thus delaying your purchase. Only way to get to him is by a negative feedback. Doesnt answer to emails. Took about a month to get my shocks. I bought a complete set from this user and they are brand new, in their boxes with instructions. Hopefully by tomorrow i'll install them

I got my GR2s on ebay last week from apwonline. They were $200 and the guy shipped them out the same day. Even coming from california to boston I had them in 4 days.
As far as buying stuff off ebay in general I would say as long as you know the brand and the product it's okay. I would watch out for unknown brand parts.

Thanks! I appreciate the advice. I ordered my KYB's yesterday and they have already been shipped. The are arriving next Tuesday. Can't wait to get them on!!!

Anyone have these installed? Did it improve the ride a great deal or was there any difference?

By the way, if I remove my current struts and install the KYB's, do I have to replace the strut mounts? Or can I use the current strut mounts with the new KYB struts?

I just got mine on yesterday. It definitely improved the ride. Less bouncing and bumps aren't nearly as bad. Nothing super dramatic though since my Maxima has always had a stiff ride anyway. Also, I'm still getting some squeaking which I think is coming from my sway bar links and that has been drawing my focus away from enjoying my new struts.

Got mines installed last saturday. The ride is alot better than before. Granted i was riding on dead ones all this time. The ride is stiff but that not much. Overall a smooth ride. And you can use the same strut mounts (direct fit).

He actually said KYB GR2's are junk ot KYB as itself, and I agree with him, even though I have GR2/Progress setup.

I have the GR-2s also. I've never had a car with really good high performance shocks yet so I can't tell you if they are good or not compared to others. I currently have about 30,000 miles on them and so far no problems. All I can say is IMO they do their job and are a good replacement for stock for the money. I was short on cash when my stock struts blew out so I went with these and so far they have held up good. But I have read that they tend to crap out quickly if your car is lowered.

Well, I have no intentions on lowering my vehicle. It seems that based on what I have read, KYB GR2's become crap when people use them in "lowered" cars. They were apparently not designed to be used in this manner. My car has 126,000 miles on it and the struts are just about gone. I am simply looking to restore the firm ride feel I had before. If someone on this post states that they have had their GR2's for upwards of 30,000 miles with no problems, then I have made a good choice in purchasing KYB GR2's.
