burning oil

This is the second time now. About 2 months ago my oil light would flash on and off as my a rpms would drop off below 1000 in nuetral. When the rpms would rise back up it would stay off. So I change my oil (the last time i changed it before that was another 2 months) and apprx a quart came out. On top of it i only drove 2400 miles. It just started flashing again and i drove about the same amount of miles. Any ideas?

how many miles do u have on the car, and what oil and wight do u use? i heard if u use the thinner oil on a high mileage car it makes the light come on so, i'd look in too it before drivin it, cuzz u can blow ur motor if u need a oil pump.

What makes you so sure it's not a leak?

If your engine was burning 3.5 quarts of oil in 2400 miles you would see the smoke coming out of your tailpipe.

I call on your oil consumption theory.

I had a similar problem...mine would run fine for about 2 months nad then would smoke like a freight train and idle rough until I changed plugs and I ended up having to put spark plug tube seals in it

if your burning that much oil in that short of a time period either A. your leaking oil and not noticeing it, or B. your burning oil like crazy. do you notice any smoke out of the tail pipe on start up or under heavy load? another thing is by the time the low oil pressure warning light comes in most cases its already to late.
