At 6500 rpm in 4th, using the stock tire size and gear ratios from the 98 fsm, I get about 189 mph.
speed = [(6500 rev/min) / (0.694 * 3.619)] * (60 min/hour) / (823 rev/mile)
What is the point though? You are power limited to approximately 140 mph

Unless you are trying out to get into Fast and the Furious 4, why do you need to know. Anything above 120 is WAY too fast for public roads. I don't care how open or desolate that area is, there is always that possiblity that SOMETHING, SOMEONE, or SOMEHOW an accident may occur. No one can argue against the fact that the chances of you getting into an accident exponentially increases as you increase speed. At 120+ it is extremely difficult to watch the road ahead for any obstructions and properly be capable of avoiding them unless you are Tony Stewart.
Heh, not to mention you are never going to make it passed 120 without the longest road you have ever seen or an 00VI/MEVI.

um, not exactly. My 97 SE 5-spd is mostly stock and I can peg out my speedo on certain bridges in Tampa that are not very long, but 5spd >>> auto
im mean I could if I chose to do so, but that is really dumb and I would never attempt it unless at the track...

120MPH was easy in my 5spd and was still pulling pretty damn good! 120MPH in my auto and still pulling, if your planning on going 120+ which i dont reccommend on public streets, turn off overdrive, and at redline in 3rd turn it back on.

I didn't say you can't make it passed 120. It is just very hard. The car pulls extremely slowly and you are increasing speed at a very low rate. Granted this person is a noob and probably doesn't know the O/D off trick anyway. If you have mods then obviously it will pull better. I had intake/y-pipe and once I hit 120 it was like a brick wall on my auto. My 5-Spd is a different world.

all my 120+ mph runs were here in FLA, in summer w/ very high humidity w/ stock cars-did it in all 3 Max's I had, 95auto, 97 auto, and much easier in my 97 5spd. again no mods whatsoever, just good tires

120 is easy, when i first got a max about 4 years back, i hit 137 mph in a bone stock car with gle rims and tires. I was trying to hit 140 but had to brake fast since i had two cars in front of me blocking both lanes, (two lane road). The funny thing is that the governor didn't kick in at 120 like it should have. Anyways, a year later when me and a few friends drove cross country to oregon, on the same car, the governor worked and we couldn't go passed 120...go figure. But that was when i was single and a bit more risk taker, after numerous of$400+ tickets, I learned to drive the speed limit. Sort-off.
