$10 says its not pinging, its injector ticking, totally different and normal...pinging is nearly unheard of

I believe that pinging would occur throught out the entire rev range. I'm with kcryan on this one.

Hey thanks for the input. It has 109K miles on it. Great gas mileage too. Would you recommend rebuilding them or replacing them or what?

Throw a good bottle or two of fuel injector cleaner in there, Gunmount Regane, Techron, or Fuelpower (google that last one if your interested) and just keep driving her, most if not all max's do this, nothing to worry about at all.

My car pings in the summer every now and then... At slight load @ 3-4k, then if I get on it more or less it stops.

And yes, it is spark knock (ping) not rod knoc, or the injectors.

Damn JWT.

you use premium? and have a knock sensor thats not bypassed?

I dont doubt it, on big hills, hot hot days, with a big load ive heard it slightly before, doesnt bother me though, as long as its not constant.

EDIT- Missed the JWT line, that'll do it...

Yea Ive heard a very slight ping in the 3-4k range aswell. Very subtle and rare. Yea I run high test always,as this is obviously a ping not a knock as someone stated before. Ive heard that a bottle of injector cleaner could help but the last time i noticed it was when I filled up at a questionable gas station, who know what was in that crap, ran a new tank full of 93 and a bottle of octane boost, hasnt happened since....about a month now.
