Car not getting up to temp?

I searched a little, and my temp gauge has been confusing me... it used to take a little time, but no matter what the temp outside, the vehicle would eventually get to the halfway point where that little dot is. Now, I drive around for like an hour on the highway doin 70-80mph and the temp gauge never got above 1/4. By the time I got off the highway it was almost back down to the low peg. What's going on in my car!?!

Change the thermostat, as they get old they get weak and open to quickly.

Yeah, its better for your mpg anyway, a colder running engine uses more fuel (computer runs a richer mixture to compensate) Just replace the thermo and your good to go
