Pinstripe Removal Drawback....assistance please...
I read up on that thread for how to peel off the pinstripe. Problem is ( this may not affect darker Max'es) I got a white Max, and when I peel off the black pinstripe , there's a lighter "shadow" where if you look close enough, there's this shaded line of lighter color where the pinstripe used to be, and it looks UGLY.
Does the lighter , "unexposed" paint fade to the rest of the car over time, or does it forever remain two shades of white?

being its a 95 the car has had 11 years to fade so if you do nothing its gonna stay that way. try a rubbing compound and if that dosent work learn how to wet sand. but please dont learn on your car get a scrap body part i garantee the first time ya go thru the paint.
Yeah, its not goo, per se....its a shadow , like the rest of the car has faded to an "off white" and the "formerly pinstriped" part looks brand new because, duh, its not been exposed to the elements for the past 11 years....
so, I have a reverse-pinstripe on my car , with a off-white stripe along where the pinstripe used to be..it looks pretty ghetto...
My ? is, does the light part fade to the rest of the car over time, or will it forever be a different shade of white?

when the car was painted, that pinstripe was put on and has protected that strip of paint since then. Now, 11 years later it's removed and will now be bombarded with the elements, while the rest of the paint continues its journey to the rust yard. Your answer, yes, it will fade, but so will the rest of the paint.
Try a "paint matched" scratch remover. Then wax it a few times that should take care of it.

the paint under the pinstrip hasn't been exposed to UV light, and hasn't faded.
Use an actual car polish (I use Meguiars #80 Speed Glaze or #82 Swirl Free Polish with a PC) to blend in the strip. Meguiar's Scratch X or Color X would also be very good products to use and can be sourced locally. They can be used by hand, too. You'll never get the entire car to the same unfaded color where the pinstripes were, but you can get it close. By polishing the surrounding paint, you will soften the line, making it seem to disappear. Concentrate polishing on the duller surrounding paint, not exactly where the pinstripe was. You don't want to make that line glossier than it already is (which may be more than the surrounding paint). Top with you're favorite was/sealant.
You may need to repeat the polishing step more than once to get it nearly invisible. It will also naturally fade with time. People who remove emblems (like me) have gone through the same thing. My '97 Max is white, also, and I had the same problem when I shaved the rear. A little polish and some work, and it isn't noticeable even at point blank range.
