Gen 4 trans bolt pattern - need help
Gen 4 trans bolt pattern - need help
I am replacing the auto trans in my 96 and shopping for a low mileage used unit. Most advertisements say fits "95-99", but I just bought a Haynes manual and it shows a different bolt pattern for "95-97" vs "98-98".
Am I missing something here or is there a difference. What is the real deal here. Can I put a "98-99" auto trans in a "96" or do I have to have a "95-97"?
Thanks for any assistance here. I don't want to buy a trans that won't fit.

you can put a 2001 tranny in your 96 they are all the same from 95-2001 because the engine is the same VQ30DE the only difference in the 00-01 VQ30DE-K is the intake....try to find a 2001 AE limited slip.
would you like fries with that ? LOL

Do you have any idea why the bolt pattern shows a difference in the Haynes manual? It looks like the upper attachment pattern to the engine is the same except maybe around the starter, but the lower pattern to the oil pan is different.
I have a bead on a 99 and want to be sure it fits. I would love to find an LS, but I am not holding my breath.
