Max is getting slow :(

Well its been about a month since i owned my max, and im getting bored with it.... i didnt buy it to have fun with, but at the beggining it was sorta fast and i had my share of fun. I know my clutch is slipping, the damn thing releases all the way at the end, and i know i could add some power by doing a Y, and B pipes as well as cat back and headers.

Since i need to replace the clutch im thinking of going with a stage two centerforce, dont know if its good for the max or not sugestions are welcome.

My ultimate question is, are all these mods really worth the money. At the end of it all ill still have only about 190 HP right ?

Can some one post Dyno charts and 1/4 mile runs of their modded maximas? Id like to see how far i can go with simple bolt on's.

If you are looking for real power, consider a MEVI or 00vi, bolt ons won't give you any dramatic results, maybe just a lot of noise.

Do the new exhaust and then do an 00vi. You'll get good gains. If you dont think you'll get gains then dont do anything. You have 190 hp at the crank. something like 10% times 190 is the whp. With new exhaust and the 00vi you should be close to 200 at the wheels. It's still your choice. If you dont feel it's worth it then don't waste your time with it.

Are you looking for a track car or a daily driver?

im in the same boat as you are. should i mod a fwd 4dr family car or just buy a car that is worth it. I didnt buy the maxima to mod the hell out of it, i bought it as a daily driver for when the supra was down (seemed like it was forever). but when i sold the supra i decided id keep the max and do some bolt ons. Stock people have run high 14's on stock 5spd maximas. with just a y pipe nealoc187 ran 14.4. with y pipe, cai, 00vi/mevi and some sort of aftermarket ecu (jwt, ts, EU) you can run 13's assuming your engine is up to the task.

I dont think anyone will reccomend the stage 2 for your uses. Id stick to stage 1

Yeah but its not like a new exhaust, 00vi, JWT, and other stuff is going to cost a small amount of money. exhaust is a few hundred. 00vi is over 500 plus the JWT is 300. So you still need to drop money just for that. Then you'll need to drop the max and do swaybars. It's up to you. If you want a faster track car than buy one.
