For stock rotors there are two kinds that I have used with great success.

Wagner ThermoQuiet, available at O'Reilly's.

Bendix, available at Advance Auto.

Under no circumstances should you use the AutoZone Duralast. Unless you like squealing and grinding.

I've been using Pro stop, and raybestos quiet stop. Good results.

im using pbr/axxis ultimates and lovem, but there not for everyone, i want to try...
EBC Green Stuff Brake Pads
KVR Kevlar Brake Pads
and
Porterfield R4-S Brake Pads

those seem to be the best of what i want from what is said.

i second the no duralasts, mine are squeling everytime i come to a complete stop..even if its for a couple of seconds..it annoys the crap out of me..and attracts unwanted attention. i recommend you get ceramic brake pads, ive heard they are more efficient and produce less brake dust..iono ive never used them..just pay the extra 10$ and get some good pads.

Go with Bendix. $40 at Advanced Auto for a full set of front pads. Lifetime warranty. If they ever wear down (which they will), I just have to take them back to Advanced Auto and I'll get another set free.

Plus they're real quiet, and I'm not seeing too much brake dust on my wheels.

sorry this is a little off topic, but I need to buy new rotors, because mine have cracks. I saw these brembo rotors on ebay it says drilled/slotted 2 front and 2 rear. so a complete set, but its only $195. Are they even real brembo? did anyone ever buy those?

I've always went with oem brake pads. I replaced my rotors with Brembo OE's and the Axxis Deluxe Plus pads that I got from here on the group deal..very inexpensive and work great. They dont squeal, stop fine and dust very little.

First definately stay away from Duracrap stuff. Ive put countless sets of those on customer's cars because the want to be cheap even though I warn them they suck. I always get a call back in like 2 months because the are squeaking and making a lot of dust. Middle of the road pads should be fine if you are on a budget. I havent had anyone complain about those. However, OEM pads are always the best when considering noise, pad life, dust, and rotor life.

I know Nissan pads for the 02 and up Altimas are horrible. They warp rotors and overheat really bad. Is this not true with the 4th gen Maxima pads?

I've had those on my 03 3.5se Altima. They squeeled really bad. Some people have much luck with them while others don't. My friend with a 99 Max GLE has had great success. They may squeel initially but after some miles on them become quieter.

I've had success with the Bendix CT-3 Ceramic pads.

I would guess that is more of a rotor issue than a brake pad issue.

I've noticed this too with the HPS's, but once they are warm they work great with the brembo slots I've been running. I'm also surprised how well the brembo rotors hold up.
