A "racing" clutch most likely isn't necessary. I replaced mine with a 5th gen. and it's better than stock. Are you planning on doing the work yourself? If so, I hope you know what you're getting yourself into. I did mine myself thinking it won't be too bad, but if I had to do it all over again, I would pay someone else to do it.

Do you have:

- A turbocharger?
- A supercharger?
- A 3.5 swap with lots of mods?
- Lots of nitrous?

If you answered "no" to all of those questions, get the 5th gen clutch.

my clutch is kind of messy too, sometimes I have to kind of force it in.. I'm thinking of getting a 5th Gen clutch and pressure plate when I get the money, but do I need a flywheel as well, because sometimes when I'm on neutral at a stop light and I'm just shifting for fun, it won't go in at all like it was jammed... is it the flywheel?

I need a new clutch too and haven't really started researching it yet, I just happened to stumble upon this thread.

Is there only one variation of the 5th gen clutch? Or rather one type of 5th gen 3.0L clutch?

Well, technically all '00 to '03 Maximas are "5th gen", but there are some differences. '00-'01 had a 3.0L engine, like our 4th gen cars do (except with some tweaks). Those are the ones from which the clutch kit will work on our cars. The '02-'03 cars had the newer 3.5L engine, so they are usually called "5.5 gen". Clutch kits from those cars are different and will not work for us.

Wrong. You missed the last two sentences of my post:

The '02-'03 cars had the newer 3.5L engine, so they are usually called "5.5 gen". Clutch kits from those cars are different and will not work for us.

as far as removing the components, what would you say was the hardest part? Aside from the 36 mm nut.
