hey guys, first off thanks for any help that can be provided here. Ive used this site for a ton of troubleshooting issues. Thing is, about a month ago some idiot friend of mine spilled a drink in my automatic tranny shifter. I shift from P all the way down to 1, but the shifter doesnt seem to have any catch between gears. In other words, I can go from PARK to DRIVE without ever pushing the button on the side of the shifter. Also, the key is stuck in the ignition so I cant use the remote to lock the car, or engage the security. Anyone have any ideas where to start looking? Im going to try and remove the plate from around the shifter, and clean and look around. I would appreciate any advice from anyone who might have had this problem before. Thanks again..

The key is stuck in the ignition? How did that happen? When did it get stuck? Did you try moving the steering wheel with teh car off and the key out of the ignition?

The gear indicator is damaged. The car thinks it is not in park so it will not release the ignition.

Check AT-181 in the FSM.

A friend ahd the same problem. It was solved by rattling a bit when in P.
