Low fuel light WTF!!!
I Have had my max for almost three years now, and only once have I ever seen the low fuel light come on. When it came on the needle was so far down past E it was a bit un-nerving. I've never ran out of gas with it, but it would be nice to know if the bulb works just incase I'm on the high-way during a long trip with the next exit being 12 miles away.
First question: If the light is fuctioning properly should it come on when the key is in the run position prior to starting?
Second question: How low does your needle go before the light comes on?
Third question: Is there a way to check if the light is functioning without removing the gauge cluster?

mine blips on and off depending if I am on an incline, or turning, or driving hard. It has never really stayed on. It is not good to let your gas get that low. It is bad for the fuel system because of the sediment that forms at the bottom of the gas tank.

Mine will go on a off, It kinda fades in and out for a while, and I can usualy get ~ 30mi outa it before I have to fill up.

i have no idea if mine works either, it comes on sometimes and goes off with no accuracy of where the needle is ? one thing i can say is that even driving on E as many times as i have, i have never ran out of gas in almost 9 years of hard core maxima cruising !!

I never let mine get that low either, I guess it's just one of thoes nit picky things that drive me nuts. I guess it would help me sleep better knowing everything is working the way I want it to. (I know, I'm fuct up). Anyways thanks for all the replies.

during the time the max was my dads, and now that its mine, ive seen the low fuel light come on once. my fuel gauge always goes way above F when its full, and way below E before the light comes on. its wierd, but i never let the needle go below E before i fill it back up.

mine comes on somewhat randomly. one time the needle was below E and i was getting kinda worried and just and the light came on, on a hill when i was stopped at the lights, maybe 1km away from the gas station, i put in about 63 liters which means it comes on with about 7 remaining?

The car is at it's lightest when the tank is below 1/4. That's where you get the best gas mileage. Not that it makes enough of a difference for me to personally care, but I've heard people doing a lot crazier things to preserve gas, so...
