my 95' gxe 5-speed has this annoying rattling sound that is consistent with load on the engine. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does , more gas makes it worse and so does downshifting, if i put it in neutral and coast it goes away or if I am cruising at a speed where the engine barely has to work it will also go away, sounds like it is coming from the center air vents in the dash.

 

could be that your air vent is loose... i am not saying that i am sure but mine does that and whne i hold the vent right up under the windsheild it stops..that vent is loose.... wy dont you pull the vent and the center part of the dash out and make nothing is loose in there.... you could do that for starts.....

sounds like there is a rattle snake in there.

 

I have a tinny metallic rattle between 3.5 and 3.7 rpm... so i just stay outta that range when I'm cruising. Wish I could help u, but I can't even help myself. good luck
