Both models have an Inhibitor Relay which is a safety feature. The automatic has a Park/Neutral Position switch mounted on the transaxle case. When you remove the tranny, that switch goes with it. The wire which formerly connected the P/NP switch to the Inhibitor Relay will now connect the clutch pedal switch to the relay. The clutch pedal switch prevents engine cranking unless the clutch pedal is "floored".
