rear brakes

i hate changing the back brakes on my max. its such a pain in the ***! why didnt nissan just make them like the front ones where you just push them in, instead of that spinnging **** and having to get a tool just to change your rear pads. this sh*t sucks. tonight i spend almost an hour changing my rear pad, becuase it was 10pm, and all the auto parts store were closed so i couldnt get the tool to change them.

Use a pair of vice grips and clamp them on one of the 4 tabs of the caliper piston, turn the piston as far as you can, repeat till the caliper can be slid over the pads and rotor.

The front calipers will push back in, Use the old pad over the piston and position the C-clamp on the center of the caliper and press the piston in. The rears however need to be turned in, your c-clamp will break before you push the piston in on the rear. On the rear pistons you will see 4 tabs, clamp a set of vice grips on one of the tabs and turn the piston in. Make sure that your rubber piston boot does not turn with the piston, if it does it can be gently tugged by hand to strighten it out.

They are a breeze, as long as you know the rears turn in and not push in.

it's a pain in the butt to turn in with a needle nose. I bought a tool to turn it in for the next job.
