repainting the maxima! want advice

ok. so the time has come to slap a new coat of paint on. right now it's pebble beige, and i like that a lot. i love the "classy" appeal. i don't want any flashy, bright colors, but i do want it to stand out more and look really nice and "VIP" status. can anyone suggest any good colors? also, what about pricing? am i looking at around $2000 for a good job?

keep it pebble...color changes are a PITA to do right and cost lots of money...i would say 2000 is about average for a total repaint of the same color....of decent quality...obviously the better quality the more money...and if there is no underlaying body work other than usual prep and minor imperfections

You should be able to get a nice respray from a reputable shop in that color in the 2000 dollar range. I'd probably spray it for around that. Maybe go a little darker in color. Paul

ask the shop thats going to do it to show you some finished work, out of the booth, not after polishing. you can make a crap painjob look nice by wet sanding and polishing it, but a nice job out of the booth is a different story(if the even have one) i've seen(and have done) nice jobs w/o a booth, and i've seen horrors out of a booth. make sure they take out your handles and moldings. it may cost you a little more, but the quality is much better.

I see you have a '95. How many miles are on it?

A new coat of paint = not worth it, if you ask me. I have a 96 with 250k, and I've thrown out the idea of repainting mine. (super black)

The $$$ you put down for a nice paint job could buy you half of a newer Maxima.

I would say keep it pebble and use the 2 g's to have the do a touch up job and it will look NICE!, but still 2 G's is a pretty good amount if you want to change the color, it won't be great but it won't be sh!tty, thats for sure... unless you go to Maaco, in that case give me 1 G and Ill fly to where you live and spray paint it myself...

what i suggest you to do is to do some of the prep work...take out the handles, bumpers, mirrors, lights, trimming, molding, mud guards. Make sure those parts are painted seperatly and the rest would look good and you'll pay a little less and put it all back together
