Paint hood/cosmetic repair cost, advice.
Hello orgers
I want to get some of the little dings off my car starting with the hood. I went to a reputable shop that took care of my Volvo that my son damaged. I explained what I wanted and showed the guy my car. My hood has your normal rock dings and has been hit once or twice by the occasional pea size hail we get here in Kansas, nothing major. The guy quoted me a price of $25 per ding and said that it would be cheaper to replace the hood than repaint it. I can get the hood done, have some scratches buffed out and other little spots looked at for about $1300. I walked; my question, does that sound reasonable for this work in your area or is that a ripoff? I have family in Newark, Saginaw, Houston and Sandy Springs that I can stay with if I decide to take a road trip. What do you think?

Why can't he just use glazing putty on your hood? It could be sanded down then epoxy fill primed, blocked down and painted. Black basecoat is not that expensive. If you were local I'd try to fix and paint that hood for you for around 5 or 6 hundred. Are the dings really deep? Paul
thanks guys, in response to the question, no the dents are not big or deep just little dimples spread out over the hood. I'm going to ride it out for the winter and buy a new hood next spring when I get the car re-painted.
