About $1800. Locking is actually less expensive than non-locking from the dealer. Your better off getting a used 2000 trans off car-part.com or a local trans/engine dealer. Dont waste your money on a brand new one.

You should be able to find a local used engine/transmission dealer that will providfe a short warantee. The place I bought my 2k trans form gave me a 60 day warantee with it. You can even get your current trans rebuilt for less than half the cost of a new one. I just dont think buying a brand new one from teh dealer is worth it.

why does everyone want a 2000 tranny? They wern't even available with LSD 95-99 or 2001 with LSD are way better.

Some people think the 2k tranys are stronger. Also its easy to find a 2k trans with low milage.

yeah but seems like a waste of money to go to all that work and not even get limited slip? I know i live in Canads so I can get a locking tranny a lot easier but still?

How is going with a non-locking used trans over a locking trans a waste of money? A low milaged non-locking trans will go for around $750, a low milaged locking trans will go for over $1000.

The average maxima owner will never enough power to require an LSD, nor will they ever race there car in a manner that would require an LSD. Now look back up at thoes prices I listed and tell me which is the waste of money.

From the dealer, an LSD trans is about $60 cheaper than a non-lsd trans. I have no idea why, but it just is. In the used parts world, an LSD trans costs A LOT more.

I did alot of research before we decided to tackle rebuilding it. The biggest deal is if the reman has had the bearings shimmed correctly, this is what usually makes teh bearings wear. If not done correctly you wil likely be replacing the tranny again. If your not ready to do it yourself, I would have it replaced by a good shop that will warranty the trans and their work.
