Tips/experience cleaning mud from leather?
Lately I've gotten bored of my current two-tone black/tan interior in my '99, so I've been looking into upgrading to the sought-after black leather. I've been scouring junkyards all over western NY looking for donor pieces, and today I hit the jackpot...sort of.
I found a complete black leather interior in a '97 Maxima. One problem; the car is right next to the loader's path through the yard, and thanks to a week of steady rain and 2ft of melted snow the interior is frickin CAKED in dried mud. Caked as in I didn't realize it was actually a black interior until I wiped a patch of mud off the dash.
So, since I can't seem to find anything useful on Google, has anyone had any experience cleaning mud off of their leather seats? Were there any long-lasting/damaging effects? I have a feeling it would be better to pass on this one, but a screamin' deal on black leather is always something to look into.

use a easy cleaner that is a cleaner only. Don't fall for those 2in1 products. They are garbage. I would start by rinsing off the seats with a little amount of soapy water on a spunge and be very careful. then, when most of the mud is off the seats, use the spray on leather cleaner. Mcguairs or mothers or whatever works good.
IMMDEATELY following the cleaning phase, apply liberally the leather conditioner. follow product directions
check the deatiling forums on this board and they can reccommend an excellent moisturizer. something you apply and leave on for 24 hours and then wipe off. I can't remember the name.
good luck with your project and post some pictures if you decided to get these.
