check engine light???

i got a question for you guys. for the past couple weeks my maintnence lights has been on. i was getting two codes. o2 sensors and a p0733 for my transmission. my muffler needs to be replaced so i figured it was reading o2 sensor for that. last night the ligh went off. the bulb still works(it comes on when you turn the key in the on position. did the problems fix themselves or is there something else wrong? also has anyone else had a p0733 before, what parts had to be replaced and the cost?

thanks

i talked to a nissan mechanic and he told me that the ligh restting itself is nothing to worry about and that the problem is probably gone, he also told me that the p0733 very well might be the soleniod that needs to be replaced. if you hav input please share!!!

If you got an O2 code and the light went away, it doesnt mean that the problem is solved....P0733 could be shift solenoid. Check the stickies about the code. Something might actually need to be fixed for that besides replacing an O2 sensor.

Those cars for a while were bad w/ 02 sensors. I'll have to look up a p0733 to see what it really is. I have seen a few bad soleniods in the tranny, but I need to check my info at the shop to verify

Thats prett freaky...mine has been throwing the "boost sensor" code for like 3 months, never got around to fixing it and then yesterday my CEL went off too. Im gonna replace the sensor anyway but why go off after all this time?

There is criteria required for the light to go on for a code, and there is criteria for keeping it on. If the car runs through a certain amount of cycles w/o a problem, the light will go off. More or less means you have an intermittent problem.

Oh yea...so maybe this stupis sensor was loose at the connector? I had it disconnected for a little last week when I had the grille off and when I reconnected it I made sure it was plugged all the way in...so maybe that thing was just loose all that time and then when I connected it it took a few days to accept it and tyurn the light off? Thats whats up!!
