Canadian fits Cali or Fed specs?
Hi Y'All
Another question from the newbie: I have a Canadian Spec Maxima. Everywhere I look to buy parts, they either specify Fed or Cali specs. How do I know which specs fit my Canadian Max?

Well if you open your hood it should say what spec your car is. You can also decode the VIN number. Or if you have a swirl vavle and 4 o2 sitting by the radiator you have a Cali-spec. I believe all 99's are cali spec regardless but i'm not to sure about this.

Is my car Cali or Fed spec?

Raise your hood. Look for a shiny metal identification tag fastened to the passenger side of firewall. The top row is the Vehicle Identification Number, starting with J. The second row is model information. The first five characters are BLHUL. The 12th character is the destination:
N = Canada
V = California
U = US, not California

It's most probably a fed spec...i doubt they would bring in a cali spec here...also check the code of your transmission(transaxle)...it should be with a V at the end...meaning u got LSD. I think all canadian maximas have the lsd...both of mine came with it

Canadian Max
I have a 99SE and I'll be taking it to Budget tomorrow for the Y and B pipe install. They asked me if I knew how many O2 sensors there were, as they've worked on at least five Canadian Maxima's that were Cali spec. So it's not a certainty that all 99 Max's have the same specifications.
