Getting Max to control Craftsman Garage Door

I've been trying to set up my maxima to open my craftsman garage door with my visor controls, but to no avail. I have followed the programming procedures, and get the blinking lights to say that it has been programmed, but still no luck. Anyone have experience with this?

Search around the org a little, it may have been covered before. Is it a rolling code system? IIRC, I don't believe HomeLink can do that.

Some 97's don't have the ability to do the rolling codes. If your home link has a little home on it like the one in the picture above, it will work. If you just have a little led, it wont work. I ended up buying some used visors off ebay from an i30 that work awesome, and now i can open my garage door.

Bonka,

My garage door does have a rolling code. However, I am having problems with following the steps to program the home link. In the instructions in step 5, it says to hold down the button and it will blink for one or two seconds and then remain lit. Mine does not do that. It simply stays solid when I push it. It will eventually go into a slow blink, but that's program mode. Am I doing something wrong??

Okay, looks like I can't do it because my visor does not have the homelink icon on the controls. Anyone have some connections on some visors?

I have a '97 HomeLink visor in my '96 GLE and HomeLink in my '99 SE. Both visors work both my rolling code openers. If I remember correctly, I couldn't simply follow the instructions, I had to 'tinker' and experiment. I finally got it. But I can't remember what I did, sorry.

okay, here is the newest dilema in the saga. Perhaps someone out there can help...

While I don't have a homelink icon on the visor in my Maxima, I had given up hope of programming it to match my craftsman rolling code garage door opener. However, after hearing from some people that they got it working, I have done a few attempts to get this thing working. This is where I am at...

I programmed the garage door transmitter to the center button on my homelink visor. Once I had done this, the next step is to program it to the garage door opener. (because of the rolling codes) To do this, you need to push an orange button on the garagae door overhead, and then depress the homelink button. If it works, the light on the garage door opener will click off. I went through and did this, and it worked! The light went out as if the transmitter was recieved, but alas, the door still doesn't open. Any ideas at this point?
