weird brake thing

I installed new rotors and new rebesto pads on my front. Now when I press on the brake lightly they seem to slip or something. It makes a weird noise untill I push harder on them. I cant figure it out. I did bed in the pads and rotors but it continues.

Did you install those thin metal shims properly and used that thick break grease in between the pads and the pistons?

Make sure it's installed good. Did you bleed the brakes?

Don't highjack people's threads....post in the newb thread if you need to. Could be warped, or your pads are going.

brake lines also, maybe you should flush your brake fluid if you haven't already?

new rotors are shipped with a coating on them to prevent rust, this needs to be cleaned off prior to install w/brake cleaner spray. if it isn't cleaned off, can affect proper seating of pads, ie slip/slide feeling. to correct remove pads, lightly sand pads, just scuff surface and spray rotors w/brake spray, front side & back side of rotors. that should get you "back up to snuff", old dude saying for "it's all good".

I think it may be the rust thing. It doesnt feel like I can break it just slips. The rust coating sounds like it may be the problem. Thanks guys.

keyword: Raybestos. the coating on new rotors burns off in the first few minutes of use. also flush and bleed the lines. when you changed them, did you make sure to grease the guide pins? (the part the calipers bolt to).
