Does anybody know for sure if I can install a 97 steering wheel into a 96?

Thanx.

haha right?
The thing is... I have to buy it first. Now if it doesn't fit, I'm stuck with a steering wheel less the money.

why do u wanna change it anyway??? You'll have to find an air bag aswell...the cruise buttons are different...so they should come with the steering wheel...

Well, the cruise buttons are going to come as well.
I'm only interested in changing the outer "ring", not the whole assy.
Airbags are fine.

No...airbags on a 95-96 are different than a 97-99. The 95-96 as you know is square...the later 4th gens aren't. And since you get a newer bag...you might need a module (don't quote me on that). Basically...you are wasting your time unless you have some CHEAP connections.

The wheel does fit, it's been done before. You will indeed need the new air bag (it would look dumb anyway, the 95-96 bag looks gay). Not sure on the module, though.

I didn't mean to say the actual steering wheel wouldn't work. It does. My parts 97 has a 96 wheel in it. I meant to say that you will need a new driver side airbag and probably module to control it since logically thinking...the old 95-96 module won't be able to control the 97-99 bag. If someone else knows otherwise, please chime in....but I'm just using logic.

if your going to go to those great of lengths to change the module and wheel, u might as well upgrade to an 05 06 maxima wheel if it fits!
