AE (Black) R34 1PC Headlights Installed Pictures & Review

So I guess I'm the first one on the org to have the blacked out version?

Anyways, I'm sure you all are wondering how blacked out ones look like on black car... well here's how blacked out ones look like on a dirty black car.

About these headlights:

1. These are worth exactly what you pay to get it. I saw the thread for group buy on these, around 200 shipped. It's worth exactly that... not a penny more.

2. Horrible light output but I'm gonna wait untill I get my 9006 HID from Roger. They do come with bulbs but it's garbage. If your not gonna get HIDs in them, at least upgrade the bulbs. I was suppose to get them today but apparently the meet got cancelled.

3. Even if I did put in the HID, horrible cutoffs. Lights are like everywhere and there's cuts and pieces of light fragments... looks like I have 6 little tiny headlights or something shining at different spots on the road. Well just have to wait and see how HID works in them. However, high beams are lined up perfectly and has absolutely no fragments. Might have to do some surgery to these lights.

4. There is a up and down adjusting screw. No left and right. BAD.

5. They look "OK" but in deed different. Kinda doesn't go real well with our stock fogs when the lights are all lit up because fogs look bigger than the headlights at night. I'm ordering projectors for fogs right after I write this.

6. Fitment is 100% great. No issues there. I have sarona grille and it lined up nicely without cutting anything like the one guy did on the other thread.

My verdict. Get it if you want something different. But get ready to invest some money on new HIDs or some retros.

beam pattern pictures when you can? would like to see if its any diffrent then the chromers.

fitment looks perfect!!!

something i thought of. normally on 9005/9006 when you hit the highbeams both stay lit. but since our 9004 are design to only light up 1 filament at a time, might need a little rewiring to get both to light up.

The black ones look much better than chrome. IMO

I'd like to see them, once you get projectors & wash the car!

Looks pretty good Kormax. Like Geo said once you get the projectors you'll be fine.

YESSSS, thanks a lot Kormax, that's all the evidence I need to purchase them now! Sucks the lineup isn't good at all......I'm wondering...you think the manufacturer (whomever it may be) knows of this problem and might consider producing an improved version?

eh....after seeing these I'm still gonna go with the AE'd glass headlights on ebay. The duals look too busy for my taste and doesn't quite flow with the car....just my opinion. But thanks for being the first to test the AE'd one's out, much appreciated.

Light output might suck but its better then driving around with one headlight because my sc'er keeps burning the harness. These have more of a lowprofile in the back thats why im getting them. Plus you one guys is selling a harness to make it so the high/low stay on at the same time. Plus do the high and fogs mod and then switch the low beam headlight bulb with 9006 i think or 9005 what ever is the opposite of whats in there as the low for better light output.

These things are only worthwhile for a retro. I would not even consider them for regular reflective use. Thanks for the writeup.

They look tight as hell but it seems thats all they are good for. If they can rework the beam pattern in these then I could see some great benefits with getting these.

AE=Anniversary Edition

These are eBay lights from China...Search "MAXIMA R34"

I've never heard of anyone making a part this complicated for a car that is two generations back...I'm amazed that they are available.
for the Aftermarket stepping up!
