Short throw and short height shifter...

Hey all,

Can someone recommend and provide pictures of a short height short shifter and also recommend a place where I can acquire one... I am thinking of installing it to replace the stock one and make it a bit nice to shift and a bit nicer on the eyes...

Thanks!

B&M is the way to go...it is on the pricey side but you can't beat there precision and quality. I have that paired with Larrio's urethane shifter bushing and all i can is it's great. It took me a while to get used to it honestly because it was so rough and hard to shift, but once i got it there's nothing better IMHO. The throw was reduced considerably(about 40 or so percent) but the height didn't change all to much maybe 2-3in at most.

Don't get the "nismo" from ebay your gonna end up hitting your shifter trim and breaking it. It hits it in 1st 3rd and 5th gears.

CE sells an adjustable one i believe which is the Pacesetter. I've heard great things about it but have never personally tried or used it. It's about 100 bucks.

I've also seen Fidanza makes on for our cars but I've seen it on ebay so i was skeptical of ordering it.

Honestly i don't because i've never had it nor seen it, but i believe they don't make them anymore (but i could be wrong)

Here's the link for the one CE which i belive is the Pacesetter because it's adjustable. I think this one would be pretty notchy because of the fact it's adjustable. http://www.customenterprise.com/view.../vts/design017

But if you in need of the B&M part number i can most certainly go look at the original box which i kept with my OEM stuff. Let me know.

Here's the Fidanza i was talking about.

If you look around on people home pages, im pretty sure you can find a picture of the hieght of the shifter...

But compared to stock im going to tell you, that its the perfect height...aesthetically as well as functionally, is that a word?

I have a B&M, and i have heard lots of things about pacesetter. The pacesetter is designed to be able to be adjusted...kinda complicated if youve never dealt with something like that (this is from what i have heard). The B&M, is not adjustable...and it doesnt need to be...and i can imagine it being easier to install compared to an adjustable shifter...

I personally would pay the extra money and get the B&M...simple install, there are good writeups in the stickies for the install...and like someone stated before, B&M makes a VERY good product....its worth it IMHO

Either get a B&M short shifter or nothing. www.SportCompactOnly.com Wait till tomorrow and then call them and ask for maxima.org discount 5% off. You can get it for like a total of $140. Also check this link below to see comparison shots of stock vs b&m

Everyone who has posted seems to be on the B&M bandwagon. Im not saying its a bad item because from the looks of it it appears to be qualtiy made but I do not have one so I cannot comment on it, but how can others post up about it if they DO NOT even have one. Its getting ridiculous how many members post up about specific items yet they have no actual experience with them, just hear say.
Now I do have an ebay OBX shifter and Ive been running it for well over 4yrs with no problems. There have been other members who have had issues with the Ebay items such as fitment and breakage but there also been some that have not. For 20 bucks what can you expect.
It is true with a STS the tranny will feel notchy but putting in a synthetic fluid will help that out. From the units I have seen including mine the height one them isnt really effected, throw between gears is. What I did, and many others is hack the STS to get it to a prefered height.

I thought about that option but i've heard that it becomes hella more notchy so i didn't wanna go through the trouble..the B&M isn't butter but it's workable.
