1-2 shift

Hey i got a quick question, I notice when the car is cold the shifting is VERY notchy, this is probably due to the fact that i am not running synthetic fluid and because its cold, i know this is normal. But the thing is the 1-2 shift is the one that scares me, its like super notchy and feels like it almost wants to grind but doesnt. the 2-3 and 3-4 shift is fine though. Once the car is warm up to operating temperature it doesnt do it, the 1-2 shift is nice and smooth. The transmission is quite jerky in low gears when going slow, i assume part of this is normal but i know my old tranny before it died was extremely jerky in parking lots and it actually started causing it to pop out of 1st and eventually the tranny blew when i was backing up.

Does anyone else's tranny do this? I assume once i get some synthetic fluid in there it should help out.

thanks

Yea mine does the same thing till it warms to operating temp., but it's fine after that. Shouldn't be anything to worry about.

jerky - take u'r foot off the clutch before u release the gas
notchy - worn syncors
gears kissing into 2nd - really worn synros

i run Amsoil GL-4 fuid, and doesn't seem to help at all.

Alright, atleast im not the only one with this issue. I suspect this transmission will fail soon, im pretty sure its developed a bit of a sweat where the axle goes into the tranny(diff bearing) so it will start to go, i guess ill be getting this one rebuilt, as ive had enough of dealing with wrecking yards.

thanks for the reply's
