Defroster question

Hi2u homies;

I noticed that when I put the HVAC to blow on the windows (i.e. defroster) and set the temp to hot and then turn on the fan it seems like the A/C turns on - 'tis true? The A/C light does not come on but something does turn on as it start making more fan-sounding noise... anyone?

it is automatic. defroster needs dry air to get rid of steam on windows. a/c dries out the air. all cars are like that.

turn what off? you can turn off the a/c switch but the compressor will still kick in. just as for the front defogger you cant circulate air, it automatically opens the vent.

Anytime the defroster is on the compressor comes on.

What I'm saying is on my mom's Accord, for example, the A/C light goes on and you can hear the engine working more, but if you press the A/C button, the light goes off and the engine drops RPM and thus the compressor is no longer working - yet the defroster position is still engaged.
