Which do you prefer? Painted interior or not?

I'm refering to radio trim, shifter bezel, window switch covers, vents, etc.Do you guys prefer them stock or painted? This is for a max i will be selling. Would you guys rather buy a car with a painted interior or not?

one vote for not painted.....i'm sure it can come out ok, but it would just look cheap IMHO...especially when it starts getting scratches on it. I rather buy a car with teh stock trim unadultered

Unpainted FTW, when people paint their dash - it looks tacky most of the time and cheap, only few cars can pull of teh painted dash, and the Maxima is not one of them IMO. The newer Porsches being one of them.

It depends on how good of a job you do painting. Also, what color you choose. I painted mine graphite and I don't think it looks cheap at all. It has almost an OEM look to it. I'd still prefer the stock black trim to it though.

if your going to change the interior trim id go with a different material trim. I like the original OEM interior, however if i had to change it, i think id go for the CE kit instead of painting it.

I don't like paint, but if you were to do it I would stick to shifter trim, ash tray door, stereo trim, climate, and middle vents. It looks more modern. Painting every little plastic surfaces (window switches, small vents) looks f'uckin' riced out every time, and will fade. /opinion

Thanks for your opinions. Heres the deal.I am going to be selling one of my cars which has the interior painted. It needs some touch up but i have stock black trim from a parts car that i can install. So if the majority doesn't like painted interiors the buyer most likely won't either. I will be switching it out.

Well I do agree with the idea that some cars do get over painted. My dash pieces were a little sh!tty so I painted them. I'm very happy with how it turned out and everyone in the car thinks it's a stock job. Pic:
I think if it's done with patience and the right color it will look good.

If you know how to paint, and you make it look stock, then it looks awesome. If you follow the right steps to get the same shine as your exterior paint, and it matches as close as possible, why not? Clear coat it 3 time and its a lot harder to scratch...and use a harder paint.

just give the buyer the choice, or throw in the other interior for like 50 bucks. therefor you dont have an extra interior sittin around, and its a extra selling point for the car

See I'm not a fan of that color match. Silver and Tan do not mix. I would keep stock in a tan car.

I personally wouldn't paint any part of the dash. It looks way to cheap, like stated above.

See I dont think you can judge unless you've seen the particular dash. If they are done right and with a good color match/mix then it should look great. I think the stickers are what looks tacky.

Well I just looked at your dash again. And I like it. I guess you are right. If you do it right you can make it look damn good.

I mean, I agree with all of you that most do look real tacky. I really think that people dont pick the right color. White dashes, silver dashes, they just dont look right to me. I was hesitant on my dash because I was afraid it would look that way. I love it and it is in so much better shape than it was before it was painted.

I think unpainted is the way to go, leave it for the buyer to decide.

depends on quality and what the color scheme of the car ends up being. for a black interior, a lighter gray or silver can look nice. for a tan interior, beige contrasts best with the black. anything else will get too light, imo.

so for the most part, stock is fine. but that doesn't mean that it can't be done right.

its not silver. what you used was silver. what i used was a kind of greyish metallic type color. and imo the stock black looked ugly (was dark, while tan is light), so thats why i painted it.

not to jack your thread or anything, but anybody every think of painting the dash the same color as the car paint? i was thinking of rebuilding my front bumper cover since it has been chipped and repaint with factory match and use leftover to do the interior trim?? this is probably too ricey though? i just thought it'd catch your eye.

btw i have a white exterior and white on tan may work? maybe

i thought about doing my dash white like my car, but then thought a little harder and thought it would look like **** and extremely ricey. so i voted against it.

Id be all for painting peoples dashes haha. Simple job that would roll in some $$. Lots of hours involved. Actually I would do that. If people sent the dash I would probably paint it for them. But then again, I'm just broke and want money.
