So I've converted.

After over a year of using the vice-grips, I pulled the damn hood struts.

Which is why I wonder why I see so many people with wooden poles and crap in their engine bay.

Considering how long the stock units last (7-8 years or so) i have no idea why more people don't just pay up and go with OEM.

A.) This was $0.00
B.) I wasn't buying new ones anyway.
C.) I prefer this over a stick, at least for shows/meets/track
D.) This looks factory to any non-Maxima owner (it was actually off a Nissan).
E.) Don't new G35's use rods?
F.) No, it doesn't dent but I will not be using this for extended periods.
G.) I thought I would post because I had not seen this, even though we have some amazing rides on here (Steven88/Nealoc187 come to mind) that use a broom handle in their amazing engine bays.
H.) rod will be painted black FWIW

OEM was also a stupid design and I have a wider opening angle if I choose.

Those hood struts had to weigh at least 2.5 pounds BTW.

Semi-off topic but:

Can anyone tell me what that vacant hole is actually for? This can be seen as where my rod (LOLz) attatches to the chassis as well as Tatanko's sig.

- Yes, G35's use a hood-rod.

Btw, did you re-rote any wires, I swear I have a ton back behind where the stock intake used to be. It seems like they're everywhere.

A. I see
B. I see
C. Hmmm... O_o
D. Never seen a factory rod in that location but i suppose the casual observer could mistake it for OEM...
E. Money savings, nothing more...
F. O_o
G. steven88 had a CF hood. Not sure about neal. He was prolly cheap too.
H. That's a plus, i suppose.

Nah, it just means Nissan wasn't about to use horrible technology in one of their finest autos. You're only following their example.

Read my post above again, I ninja-edited it.

Nismology- they both have CF hoods.

The rod is not from a stock MAXIMA, but I didn't fabricate this rod, it was stock for a USDM Nissan.

That, ABS, or maybe something for clutch. Damnit, look at the firewall there's like nothing mounted there, its what we always hope for.
