Clutch Problem.. please help

I just got a new clutch put on about a week ago. I noticed it was smelling a lot and also slipping so i took it to my mechanic. He said it was the slave cylinder and replaced it. The clutch does not slip anymore but it is still smelling alot. Also when i was stopped at a red light i noticed some smoke coming out from under my hood. WHAT COULD THIS BE????

The mechanic could have spilled brake fluid on the transmission while bleeding the slave cylinder causing it to smoke...just a thought, i am not saying that is the cause

I would not think a bad slave cylinder would cause the clutch to slip, unless you are leaking brake fluid so bad it is getting onto the clutch plate. If that was the case it will take a while to burn all the fluid off.

Did you notice the clutch fluid resevoir needing fluid. If you have not had to fill the clutch fluid resevoir then I think there is something else going on.

Good luck.

check your engine oil...it could be that your main seal is leaking oil into the transmission and that is why the clutch slips and you see smoke...

I just had a new clutch put in because my chutch was chattering. Brough it back to the mechanic because it was still chattering. He put in ANOTHER new clutch and a new flywheel. It's still chattering.

Wonder if our problems are related...
