Clutch pilot bushing question

Hi all!

Parts are about to rain in today and tomorrow... I am getting quite excited for the tranny drop on sunday which would allow me to do some nice cleaning to the MAF and TB while doing the clutch..... ANYWAY back to topic:

I am planning on using the old pilot bushing; it has only 85K on it - should I get a new one or will it be fine to use the old bushings?

The only new things I got for the clutch assembly are the flywheel, clutch disk, PP, throw out bearing and a steel braided cable.

Cheers!

And while on the subject - will a 4th generation clutch pilot bearing fit a 5th generation clutch?

The pilot bearing does nothing on our cars. No need to touch it at all.

I was told that overtime it may get play in it and warrant a replacement... so not true bout our whips?

Negative it does nothing except hold a place and make the alignment tool fit securely so everything lines up. It has absolutely no mechanical interaction with the car.

Well the tool needs to center the disk to the flywheel and pressure plate. It doesnt take anything special, but having the correct one can make it that much easier. I know of a freind who didnt get it 100% centered so the tranny wouldnt bolt up. Needless to say he had to pull it all apart again to center it.

It needs to have the right dimensions. However, even Autozone had the right one and I think it was $3.

And to re-iterate what the others said about the pilot bushing - fuggetaboutit. It's serves no purpose on our car.
