Anyone want to reupholster their leather seats?
this winter i am going to put used OEM stock leather seat covers onto my seats that were originally SE cloth. you will need hog rings and pliers to do it. it can be tricky but can be done with good results if you take your time and do it right.
yup hog rings and HOT RING pliers.. not just any old pliers ... its not an easy task .. very time consuming ... its almost impossible to get the top part of the seat cushion tight ... lot of work if u wanna make it look right

It would probably be helpful if you would post a link to the website where you found the leather.
if you're buying just plain leather, you will also have to get a pattern for a seat and cut out the pieces and sew them together. that seems like a pretty daunting task if you have never done anything like it. you may be best off getting replacement leather from katskins or one of the other sites and either put that on or take it to a shop to get it done.

Don't get me wrong, I truly care about my Maxima and I know that I can trust it to take me anywhere. But seriously, at 144k miles, a car turns in to the beater car, it has liability insurance on it and it's the one that's parked outside the garage when there's snow on the ground.
Seafoam, $5
Auto-Rx 25 (aprox i dont wanna look up exactly the # now)
Mabye 2 treatments of auto-rx and one seafoam=$55
Your car lasting an extra 50,000 miles (a conservative estamite) Worth the price...to me atleast, but if you got money pouring out of your ears, go nuts
reupholstering your own seats is a big job- not to be taken on by a novice. besides the material/thread, you will need new foam, an industrial juki or durkopf adler sewing machine, and a considerable amount of patients.
this is in black and garcia green centers, tuck and roll inserts, matching door panels and custom rear armrest. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/687468/5

i liek my car to be in good shape. i still get compliments on my 10 year old infiniti. cause its pretty dam clean.. except for city parking chips on bumper.. and also a small ding on the hood which i will fix. some of us like our cars.. and as far as putting stuff from junkyards.. Im picky about it. i saw an nycmaximas.ORG member's max in a junk yard with great soft beautiful leather, but i didnt take the leather.. jsut didnt feel rite.. but if its a neglected car that has good seats.. then why not... better to recycle then to waste ..
