Torque steer?!?!

So i had my car aligned yesterday. Before, the steering wheel was off center and it pulled to the right. Well after the alignment, the wheel is level, but it still pulls, and it torque steers like a mother. The techs said it may be a tire issue, wtf? The only "tire issue" i could think of would be low/high air pressure. Anyone elses car do the same or was mine just smashed by the previous owner and now its ****ed up?

Pulls to the right on a level straight road without accelerating or braking? If so then it must be misaligned.
However before aligning you need to check that the suspension parts are in good condition. Worn suspension parts make a car impossible to align properly.
In alignment, the wheels are aligned and then the steering wheel is set up as accurately as possible on the spline.

I dont know about your car but when shifting from 1 to 2 at full throttle, I get tq steer. I have a couple mods but I think there is enough power

I have a feeling all this front end trouble is probably due to worn out rubber bushings and those "disposable, breakdownable" parts. which should be replaced w/ OEM or Polyurathane.

mine pulls like a **** to the right, too. then again, my suspension is shot and needs to be replaced, so i'll have to see how it is after the overhaul.

Ive replaced about 90% of my front ens stuff over the past few months trying to eliminate a wobble in the wheel and even though thats gone I still get fairly hard torque steer with the auto, cant imagine why that other guy gets no steer but I dont know if I'll get rid of it...Doesnt one wheel pull harder than the other on our cars?

My 97 was doing the same thing. I just got done rebuilding my whole front end and probably cut it down by 30%. You will always have a little torque steer. In your case try switching the front tires from left to right. If it still does it, then you need to rebuild the front end.

Get all your parts ahead of time, then work on it.

I suggest replacing the wheel bearings and seals while you have the front end apart. $35 labor per side to get them pressed on.
I would suggest getting new rack and pinion boots.
I would suggest having the shop press in the new balljoints. You can hammer them out.
My tie rods were still in good condition, but check them out to make sure.

I did this all in two days. Because the shop had to have the hubs for a day.

Lol...Im not saying you lying bro but its still funny how you said heres the proof like the link was to something that actually proves what you say...And I think the laughter is to why your car dont have any torque steer, its pretty inherent to FWD as far as I know, mostly every FWD Ive ever drove that had some ***** usually displayed some level of torque steer. He's wondering how your 5mt could not display the same

well the reason you dont have much if any tq steer with the max is that limited slip will take most of it away. we get our "torque steer" from one tire pulling and griping just a grunt more than the other one. with limited slip this happens less and they pull equaly. therefor, no pulling left or right. i have 2 freinds with 3kgt's and theyre slide around bad taking off. especialy uphill. as for my old accord though, it was a little different. it would accauly ****** the wheel and all in heavy accel. but it didnt hook for crap anyway.

my 99 max 5-speed always has pulled to the right, same with my dads old 96 gle and his new 02 se. i guess its a nissan thing maybe just a max thing idk. ive learned to just counter act it when i put the power down, or expect to break loose. i guess youll have to learn to live with it.

wow, cant believe noones said this. if you have different tires it can pull a bit on you. something to do with the different treads. also, i have 0 mods and when accelerating hard from 1-2 i get rediculous torque steer as well. its normal FWD crap.

my mechanic friend and 1 were chatting 1 day and he said it is caused mostly because of the uneven lenght of the drive shafts. if you think about it a longer crew driver puts out more torque compared to a stuby when the same force is applied. so therefore the longer shaft which i'm guessing on our cars is the right puts just a bit more power to the wheel compared to the left which causes it to pull to the right. pls don't quote me

wow a local person from Vancouver. Welcome to the .org im from surrey, i get torque steer in my 98se 5MT not really in a straight line but especially exiting a corner and if i put my foot down, or if you are on a road with grooves. A lot of it has to do with the unequal lengths of the drive shafts.

I have brand new tires. All new motor mounts. recently did the alignment and I still get pulling to the right. The harder I accelerate, the harder it pulls (duh) I notice it more when going from 1 to 2nd at any speed. and when accelerating quickly out of a corner. I think it's normal.
