9007 Headlights on 98 Max

I converted from the stock 9004 to the 9007 Sylvania Ultra Vision and they are super EXCEPT many people flash me at night thinking I have my high beams on. I show them I don't by giving them the high beams. When you convert, do you need to adjust the beams lower, or is it just so bright that it bugs oncoming traffic ? Exept for that minor annoyance, these lights are great.

After I converted mine with Sylvania Xtra Visions, I actually had to re-aim mine up to get it to light up the road. They are quite bright, but I've only been flashed a few times in the 4 months since I did the mod. You may try re-aiming them lower. When I did mine, I had one side stock while I set up the other side, and aimed them just slightly higher than stock, which is easy with the tighter cutoff.

Ditto - when I did mine I had to aim the left headlight a whole lot to the right and the right headlight to the left. It's due to the different beam pattern on the 9007 bulb vs the 9004. Your headlights just need to be realigned.

I put GE 9007 Nighthawkss which basically doubled the lumens. :aok:

anything other than 45w 9004 will produce glare and some headlamps will produce glare more excessive than others. Same with the HID kits, ridiculous glare. Here's why: 9004 is a 45w/65w dual-filament bulb with HORIZONTAL filaments; 9007 is a 55w/65w dual-filament bulb with VERTICAL filaments; D2S (HID) is a bulb with salts that produces an arc. Every halogen bulb type has a different focal length. This pertains to how deep the bulb filament is placed within the housing and the orientation of the filament. The wrong focal length will yield less than optimal light output and quite frequently, unintended glare.

Although 9007 is brighter than 9004, that is because 9007 is 55w. The added brightness and difference in focal length will contribute to unintended glare, case in point, you being flashed for the past 4 months. Now let me ask you this, what is the point of upgrading to a brighter light source if you are going to aim your lights lower? Does this mean you see better or does it mean you violated DOT regulations and wasted money pointlessly?

personally i enjoy the added light distance, i can see so much more now even with the housings aimed down. makes me feel a lot better driving windy roads at night that i can see whats coming
so i dont consider it a waste of money, since i dont have the money to do a projector retro.
