Car died on Freeway - Electrical Problems

Well recently my card has been very hard to start recently, I thought maybe it was a sticky starter, but when I try to turn the ignition on you can barely hear the starter, like it doesnt click over. So anyway I have gotten it too start but 2 times over 4 days I have had to get it jumped to get the car started. Then I was thinking it was the battery but all my accessorys work and the headlight are very bright. Well anyway my car started yesterday then while I was driving on the freeway the car just died and I had to coast onto the sholder. I was like ok, now I have no idea what it could be, my car won't start and I had to get it towed last night.

Possible Solutions

Get battery charged? Go to autozone, they do it for free?
Check Battery Cables? Not sure how I would check, look for corrosion?
Check Alternator Belt? See if its tight enough?
Check Fuses? I have no idea how to do this.
Check Crank Position Sensor? No idea how to do this.

Im check the codes and come right back.

My guess would be a defective alternator that ended up draining the battery.

How did the car died? Was it all of a sudden or did the lights started to dim relatively slowly, etc.?

The starter makes little to no noise.

I just checked the code and I got a 504.

0504

Diagnostic Trouble Code 0504 points to a problem with the Automatic Transmission Communications line. Pulse signals are exchanged between the Engine Control Module and the Transmission Control Module to assure smooth shifting during hard acceleration or deceleration.

This malfunction is detected when the ECM continuously receives an incorrect voltage from the TCM. Possible causes include...
- Harness or connectors (The communications line circuit between the ECM and the TCM is open or shorted.)
- TCM
- Discharged or faulty battery

I just went and had the battery recharged but it still won't turn over. I guess it has something to do transmission communication line.

OMG this just happend to me the other day no joke. I was doing 80 mph and the car just shut off completley. I had problems starting it days before too and had to get it jumped. I did an alternator check and it was charging but when i checked my battery its voltage was so low that something as simple as using brake lights would shut the whole car down. It was just a new battery thats all. It really scared me and its hard to pull off highway without a working engine. Check and make sure it isn't alternator and just buy a new battery. Go with diehard gold just to play it safe. I also have aftermarket stereo which could explain why my battery was drained.
