that sucks man, i know how it goes having your car on the college campus. i've already been hit twice and i haven't even been here a semester. i'm jus lucky they were only really small scratches.

as for fixing it up...maybe some touch up paint or buffing it out??? Not exactly sure. A buddy of mine said that he had a pretty big key mark on his maxima and I can't even tell where it is.

before i spent any money on painting it, i would try wet sanding it w/ 1500 grit paper, make sure you keep the paper flat on the door. and then buff it out real well with some diamond cut or similar, something that will cut pretty well, or you could touch it up then wet sand and buff it out. You'd be surprised what you can do by just wet sanding. That looks pretty deep though, so you may end up having to do some paint work.

How much do you gys think it would cost to have a door prepped and painted at a shop(ballpark range)? What about prepped at home and then just painted at the shop? Just wondering for a possible future reference.

>>>Hopefully, it's just the clearcoat. If it is, then just buy touch up clearcoat($15+ship) from www.paintscratch.com/ or your local auto store
If it goes into the basecoat, its gonna a little more complex... their color may not match.

If I were you I would just put something on it to keep it from rusting, then wait until you finish school. My son parks our Volvo at his highschool and you wouldn't believe the number of dings it received in a 5 month period. Imagine how pi**ed off you would be if you fixed it, parked away from other cars and someone did it again. I know it's hard but just live with it for now and repair the damage when the chance of it happening again are not so high. just my 2 cents.

what he said.

for your ballpark price...you wouldn't need a lot of paint but i doubt the shop would fix it with pen stuff. i've been on sites with paintcoded colors of your car and that can be pretty expensive. I'm gonna take a stab at saying 75 bucks.

fix and paint the door is going to be at least 350. better off trying to polish it out as best possible and call it a day. you wont get back the investment
