Anyone else being called to trade-in their MAX?

I got a call from my local dealership (went there once for fuel-filter replacement) and they told me they've been getting lots of requests for 4th-gen MAXIMA's lately and wanna offer me a trade in for my car, but they didn't tell me how much they'd be willing to offer me (at this moment my scam alarm went off!) anyways I'd trade in if they gave me 4,000 for it (what it's worth according to KBB) but it would seem kinda pointless since I'd only be willing to trade it in for another 4th-gen ('99 Black GLE) with less miles , anyways anyone else been called up about this?

personally i wouldn't fall for it. my dad get's things in the mail from our local saturn dealership once or twice a year but this letter claims that "ATTN: Saturn blah blah blah's are needed and are in demand and we're willing to give you top price for yours..." I think it's a bunch of BS just so you trade in your car and get the newer max.

the newer MAX is an over-priced boat, I dunno who in their right mind would get one when you could get an M35 or a G35 coupe for what a 6.5 gen costs. They said they're willing to buy it from me so I have an inkling that it might b legit, anyways I'll check it out and if they do offer "top-dollar" (the inflated KBB value) I might let it go and start hunting for that elusive 99 Black GLE

4th-gens are timeless since all gens after the 4th are fugly, might b a reason why they're becoming more popular, plus they are classy and affordable..

I get a card in the mail every month. I went to the dealer's website and entered in all the info and couldn't enter any mileage over 200,000.

It's a gimmick. If anything they want to make a sale. Been noticing everyone elses cars and they all seem newer than mine.

yeah, I'm betting it's a gimmick, but I'll see if they really are willing to buy my car from me, I have nothing to lose from checking it out (unless they hypnotize me into leasing an 07 Maxima )

Just a ploy to get your A$$ down to their stealership. They want you to trade in for a Newer car with a 72 Month term and you all the way to the bank. This has SCAM all over it. DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!!

The dealership near me is offering a 30 dollar gas card if you make reservations over the internet and take a test drive.

A while back they sent me a coupon for 5 dollar gas card if I came down there and talk to a salesman and take a test drive. Didn't take the test drive and still got the 5 bux in gas, had to go around there anyways.

I wouldn't go there for a free oil change though. Bad enough I have to go get a part from those people.

Yep, now is the time of year that many dealers are selling off 06 stock.

If you're serious about buying something, now's the perfect time. Just don't let them suck you in with a great trade-in price and get it all back and more by keeping the new car price high. Right now many dealers are selling new cars for 20% under MSRP for the models still on the lot.

yeah we get a thing in the mail probably every 4 months from the local dealership telling us they need more inventory of 4th gens and are willing to pay big bucks to get ours. we ignore it everytime, they should just build better cars so people buy them on their own will power. that way they wouldnt need these stupid scams

I get letters like that all the time. Its just a way for them to get you to trade in your current car for a newer Nissan.

thats just a way to get you into the delearship... i used to work at one... and we would get listing from the service department of the different people that would go in there and get there cars fixed... get there phone numbers and the amount the spent... and would call them asking if they where looking for a new car blah blah blah... (that personally sucked) i hated bothering people knowing i hate it when they called me asking things like that... other method they always told us and that the salesman. would always do is that we would rotate to go early in the morning. with some coffee and start talking to the people dropping of there car... asking what it was there for ... and it it was worth fixing it or trading it in for a new car and use that as down payment as well as the trade in of the car itself... there are several ways they try to get you in... i remember once.. they where supposly giving a way a car... if you had the number on the letter that they had send in... but the catch was when you went in . they would lure you to talk to a salesman... the gift that they offered if you just went in... was something you could by for a dollar at the dollar store... and the most funny thing... and that was really never on the. letter itself that it was beeing sent to .. that the car was going to be participating... in over 100 dealerships around the us... so not necesarily meaning that only in that dealership the car was going to be given . away ... well to make this short. if you go in ... get ready to say no from the get go .... get what your looking for and get out if you not looking into getting a car... and be expacting either a call or some type of mail withing a mouth, 2 atmost..

publicity tricks... beware.. LOL

ps: thank goodness i dont work there any more... lol
only thing i miss though is the free detailing.. (now that sucks)

Chefasaurus ->

i just read my own. post... damm sounds confusing...and some what harsh

any ways.. hopefully you all get the point of the... small tricks some dealerships do to get you to show up at the store.

Not a very convincing way to get people to get people interested in "selling their car" if you ask me. If they are saying there is a demand for them it wouldn't be because they are crap cars. If they're good cars then why look into selling it when you have no assurances a new car would necessarily be better.

Now they are saying there is a need in the pre-owned department for my 87 Pathfinder. They also say they are having food for a few days for the vip people with the letter. Maybe they are not making enough money off of me in parts.

I like leather seats + ABS and I think GLE & SE-L are the only one without a governator chip (correct me if I'm wrong). If I could find a Black 99 SE-L i'd be all over it (cuz Red one is a COP magnet).

Hey now, it's not THAT bad. I just try not to draw attention to myself.
Sometimes it's hard during the winter though, when other cars are all covered in snow and mine isn't (garage kept and waxed every other week). Gotta love an insulated garage and a space heater.
