Need help with hood support

I recently bought new lift supports and when i went to installed i noticed that the left one (looking it from the front) had a screw that was not completely screwed in, so when i changed it one of the screw (new one) will not "stick" to the hood it enters and bends towards the side i think the hole is damaged and don't know what to do. can someone suggest me something?

so you're saying the mount hole is ****ed? how did the old one screw in? i think you can retread the hole and get a reducer if its really torn, a body shop should have some tricks.

Maybe try a screw that is just a hair bigger and make sure that it grabs as you are putting it into the hood. As 96i30azn said, a body shop may have a suggestion.
Good luck

Check the screw threads. THis happened to me. THe first 2 threads were messed up. I filed them off with a file, and it worked. Only missing 2 threads, not enough for damage...
